About the Role

Our client, a leading player in the global aviation industry, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Aviation Safety Manager to join their dynamic team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. You will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety management systems to ensure the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance across all aviation operations. This role demands a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of aviation safety principles and a proven track record of driving safety culture improvements in a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic safety management systems (SMS) tailored for remote operational oversight.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits across various aviation functions, utilizing virtual tools and reporting mechanisms.
• Investigate safety incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Foster a proactive safety culture through remote training, communication campaigns, and engagement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international aviation safety regulations and standards.
• Prepare and present detailed safety reports to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in aviation safety management or a related field.
• Bachelor's degree in Aviation Management, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Possession of relevant safety certifications (e.g., ICAO SMS, Certified Aviation Safety Professional).
• Demonstrated expertise in risk management, safety auditing, and incident investigation techniques.
• Strong understanding of South African civil aviation regulations and international standards.
• Excellent remote communication , leadership, and analytical skills, with the ability to work autonomously.
